A.I. Image Creation

I just spent the past hour generating images using AI.

First impressions: I am BLOWN AWAY but the quality images that can be produced in such a short time. I wanted to share my experience here for others to learn from:

SETUP
Getting setup was simple. It did require a paid monthly subscription to start using the service I chose, but at only $8/month it’s significantly less expensive than hiring an agency to do photoshoots. You’ll need to spend a few minutes getting used to the software, but once you understand the lingo it’s pretty smooth sailing.

IMAGE CREATION
Once you have access and know how to tell the AI what to do, you can start creating. With the world as my oyster and no specific project on the horizon I actually felt a little stumped. What should I make? I started small, asking for sunsets and mountains and the like. The AI I used provided 4 images built together into a single frame and gave me the opportunity to revise it easy. Buttons below the image let me choose wether I wanted more variations of a specific image, or if I wanted to see one of the four more closely. I could also “paint” areas on the image I didn’t like, telling the AI to make variations without changing the elements I enjoyed. Frankly, it’s farther addictive to see one’s imagination be brought to life in such amazing ways, and I easily spent several minutes just “playing” around with different ideas.

BE SPECIFIC
To get what you want from AI you have to be specific. The more specific the better, but even the best description still may not be perfect. Let’s say you wanted an image of the inside of a small business to use as the header on the “SMB” part of your website. You might say “interior of small clothing shop, clean” but that would have such a low margin for success. Yes, you might get lucky, but the real power comes with very specific directives: “interior of small clothing shop, clean, modern, with customers browsing among the racks, one female customer holding up dress and looking in mirror, floor to ceiling windows reveal cityscape outside” but sadly, even THAT may not get you what you want. Adding phrases like what kind of camera is used to capture the image, what angle should the image be captured from, what style of image you want, and what kind of lighting you need can help you get there.

HUMAN LEARNING
Just as AI learns from us we can learn from it. The more you build the easier it will become, and I suggest writing down the phrases that seem to resonate. You can also learn a lot by scrolling through the various posts and seeing what the other humans do. How did they get the images AI created for them? What commands did they use? Write these down somewhere for future reference.

WE STILL NEED MARKETERS
I believe those who think AI will replace humans are mistaken. While AI is truly powerful, it takes the vision and strategy of a human to put it all together. We are the ones living in the world, working in this industry, building content for this company. As we combine our knowledge and experience with AI we can get 80% of the way there, but I still suggest a VERY product specific approach to your marketing, which means after AI creates you that perfect image of the clothing shop, an in-house marketing HUMAN still needs to photoshop in your specific products to make the image truly powerful.

I’m still learning about the possibilities, but I would love to help you figure them out too. If you want a free consultation or marketing help, contact me today!
